The evening’s experiential talk is an excellent primer for a newcomer to meditation. Based on time-tested, non-religious methods, the talk begins with a brief introduction to the practice of meditation. Then some basic practice techniques are taught followed by a guided meditation.

Based on the philosophies of Taoism, the evening’s presentation starts off with a brief history of Chi Kung and its integration to meditation. We'll cover the three fold branches of Chi Kung - health, meditation and martial art and will get a chance to practice all three. With focus on teaching self-cultivation of one’s energy using a variety of holistic techniques and methods, the second part of the presentation demonstrates some simple practices for every day living.

There are few of us today that have not heard the words Tao or Tantra, yet how many of us understand their true meaning? For the most part, Tao generally conjures up the mystical ideas of Lao Tzu, may be some Tai chi comes to mind along with what is considered to be the more dry and pragmatic approach to sexuality. We're confronted with so many "spiritual" truths... intentions, attentions, invocations of mantras and mystical chants. How do we make sense of it all?! How do we relate these timeless truths to our own daily lives? Do I become a Yogi by going to a Yoga class? Am I a Zen monk if I meditate on my couch at home – or even chime on a gong?

In this presentation we will be covering the practices, theology and reasoning behind the use of sensuality, sexuality and expansion of boundaries as part of the Tantric perspective on life. We will try to explore the fascination we have with our sexuality, with pushing our boundaries, and how we get so mixed up when it comes to religion and our beliefs.

Self-love: the practical application of it has been on my mind, in my world, in my heart. I am interested in the tools of transformation for their use in making this human experience a better one, and self-love is a biggie, like keystone or lynch pin status. A constant theme for many of us is how to feel better, even just normal, in the midst of the physical and vibrational shifts occurring in the world. Feeling grounded, centered, and balanced is a daily, sometimes moment-to-moment pursuit.

In this lecture we will be exploring the path of the mystics, their dilemmas, conflicts and moments of clarity. What does it mean to seek for truth? What does it mean to walk a spiritual path? Using the timeless illustrative Tomikichiro Tokuriki wood prints inspired by the original drawings of master Kakuan, we will go through the 10 steps on the path of a truth seeker. Drawing in, but not limited to, the timeless teachings of Zen, we shall try to expand our perspective on this exciting topic.

The mind will do everything in its power to focus on anything other than that which frightens it most - itself. As long as we see the Guru, Buddha, Jesus, or the Rabbi sitting up there, on an unattainable throne, we, meaning our minds, are safe and there is no need to change.

Daddy is called in to explain that there is none. As proof, Dad turns the lights on and opens the closet door. And indeed, no monsters are visible. Yet this does not make the fear go away. What the youngster knows, that the grownup does not, is that whatever is hiding in the closet is very evasive.

Liberation is having the ability to choose, the freedom and the courage to allow our lives to turn from being a monologue with life into a dialog, or a dance if you will. An expression of a flowing movement, rather than a monotonous repetitive choice-less action.
